Tuesday 12 March, 2019
TotalControlPro is delighted to announce that our very own Strategic Director Dolores Sanders has been named on of Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Award’ winners. One of just nine women from around the UK: Dolores has pioneered the development of our cloud-based technology. In turn being recognised as one of the leading figures in helping the UK meet the demands of the ever-changing technological complications.
International Women’s Day
The award was announced rather fittingly on International Women’s Day by Business Secretary Greg Clark. Who himself said “I would like to congratulate all these women on developing inspiring and pioneering innovations to tackle the grand challenges we face as a society, from a new waterproof coating to cut down single use plastic, to helping us train mechanics with simulators.”
“This is our modern Industrial Strategy in action, backing the innovators and businesses of all sizes across the UK to grow – and develop the products, industries and sectors of tomorrow, boosting the UK economy with the skills and inventions we will need for the next generation.”
Innovate UK Award
Marking the outstanding contributions to innovation, Innovate UK has commissioned and installed commemorative plaques recognising each of the award holders where their innovation journey began, to inspire young innovators and communities alike. One of which is has been installed at a place close to Dolores’ heart: Oakham School.
Headmaster Nigel Lashbrook stated:
“We are honoured Dolores has chosen to have her plaque on display at Oakham. Technology moves at a phenomenal rate. What Dolores learnt during her time at Oakham is very different to what our Computer Scientists learn today, and indeed what the next generation of students will learn. All good schools, like Oakham, don’t simply teach the knowledge or techniques of the time. Instead we focus on the process of learning, to equip students with the confidence and abilities to ask and answer questions for themselves – skills that are vital for both lifelong learning and innovation.”
An honour from Oakham School
“The plaque will inspire current and future Oakhamians, female and male, to pursue careers in the fields of STEM and innovation – in a similar way to how we showcase and celebrate our Alumni in other departments across the School – from Sport to Drama, Social Sciences to Design Technology.”
As well as receiving nationwide recognition, the winners will each receive £50,000 and a year-long package of bespoke support, coaching and mentoring. In turn helping TotalControlPro take tracking and manufacturing processes to the next level.
